Born Konidela Kalyan Kumar on September 2, 1971, he made his acting debut in 1996 with "Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi." While his initial films were successful, it was the 1998 classic "Tholi Prema" that cemented his place as a romantic hero and earned him a National Film Award. The subsequent hits like "Badri" and "Kushi" further solidified his "Power Star" status, a title bestowed upon him by his adoring fans. change in governance and to be a voice for the common man, he took a step back
from his successful film career. While he did not contest the 2014 elections,
his support for the TDP-BJP alliance proved crucial. He actively campaigned on
issues like the Uddanam kidney disease crisis and farmers' welfare, earning him
immense respect beyond cinema.
Despite a significant setback in the 2019 elections, where his party won only one assembly seat, he remained undeterred. He continued to engage in grassroots politics, conducting tours and addressing public grievances. His unwavering determination paid off handsomely in the 2024 elections, where he played a pivotal role in the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance, securing a landslide victory.
Jana Sena won all 21 assembly seats and two MP seats it
contested, and Pawan Kalyan himself was elected from the Pithapuram
constituency by a massive margin.
